About Our Campaign

As the area's first hospice, we have a history of making history. Hospice and Palliative Care of Greater Wayne County has a long standing tradition of providing end of life care for the people of this community, but we have outgrown our current facility and have determined that Hospice not only needs additional space to conduct its current services, but that an inpatient care facility should be added.

Continuum of Care

Having a local, inpatient hospice unit will ensure no gaps in service and enhance our continuum of care.

When patients in our community need more complex care than we can provide in home, they currently have two options.

bulletThey can leave the community they know and go to a hospice inpatient unit outside the local area or,

bulletThey can leave their home and go to one of our local community hospitals.

Either scenario means being further away from family and friends and the comforts of home, and of having to adjust to a new hospice environment with new staff and surroundings or being in a sterile hospital environment with all the rules and regulations of that environment. The time when patient comfort and family satisfaction are paramount, is not the time to send your loved one back to a hospital or to a distant facility. We need a third, more sustaining option. With the creation of this proposed inpatient facility, we have that option.

With the support of individuals, community leaders and businesses, we can keep people close during their last days or months.
